The phone is the common link
VocAll creates an Internet-based group room between Android phones. When WebRTC connectivity is established, audio is encrypted in transit and exchanged directly between devices where possible. VocAll does not store the audio conversations.
Private rides stay simple
A private ride needs only a ride name. It is unlimited by default and people join using the four-character room code or a shared link.
Public rides can be discovered nearby
A host can publish a ride to the nearby directory. The public profile can contain a short description, a preset or custom ride type, the current rider count and an optional capacity between 2 and 50.
Nearby search uses the rider’s location only to find matching rides. The map preview intentionally shows an approximate area of roughly 2.5 km radius instead of the host’s exact GPS point.
Admission and room capacity
Joining a public ride is a request, not automatic access. Riders already present vote on the request. If the ride reaches its capacity, new admissions are blocked until a place becomes available.
Host role, handoff and rider removal
The current host coordinates the room. The role can be transferred manually and can also move to another rider when needed. Only the current host can remove another participant. The removed rider is disconnected and VocAll clears that room code from their recent and saved ride data.
Optional GPS and meeting point
Live group location is optional. Inside the room, admitted riders can share their positions. The host can also set a precise meeting point that stays private to the room and can be opened in an external navigation app.
End-of-ride summary
When leaving a ride, VocAll can show a local summary with duration, riders met, alerts and distance if GPS was used. The app does not keep a detailed GPS track.
Reconnection and background audio
VocAll attempts to recover after short connectivity changes, including Wi‑Fi and mobile network transitions. A foreground service allows the audio session to continue when the app is in the background or the screen is off, subject to Android and device conditions.
